How close do you have to live to LA to act?

Question:Does your agent care how far away you live as long as you can make it to auditions on time? I am either going to be going to school in LA, Irvine, Santa Barbara, or Riverside. If I don't get into any of those then I will be going to Fullerton. The farthest one is Santa Barbara, but I really like that school and I think it would be fine because I can schedule my classes in the morning and that would leave me plenty of time to make it to LA for audtions right? I hear that most auditions are in the afternoon, is that right?
