Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Honestly, do I have what it takes?

Question:This is a video of me singing Memory from Cats, and I really want to know if I have what it takes to be in Broadway musicals. I'm only 17 years old, but I really need to know if this what I should do with my life. Also, the video is me singing accapella. It would sound so much better with an accompanist, but this whole idea was somewhat rushed, so this is the outcome. I also appologize for the middle where the key change is supposed to occur. It sounds kinda funny with the lack of background music, but it can be soo much better. So please submit your honest opinions and I will greatly appreciate it.

With the proper training you could be good. I don't know if you are good enough for Broadway but if you don't try you will never know. Singing, acting and piano lessens are a must so give it a couple of years try and if it doesn't work out then at least you tried. There are training schools for this so find out where and sign up. Good luck.

sorry, but, no, you are stiff and do not sing nearly well enough to be in a professional Musical on Broadway. Your voice is nice enough though and you could probably participate in amateur musicals in community theatre.

I've been around theater for years and yes, you're wonderful! Take all that apology off your site (about key changes, etc.) More than half of getting jobs is confidence and projecting a sense of joy and happiness that makes the auditors fall in love with you. So, you have what it takes....go into auditions NOT looking for approval, but with an attitude of "I've got something wonderful I want to share with you." Good luck!!

Your voice is wavering. Every time you take a breath, you start off slightly soft and unenthusiastic, and by the time your runnning out of breath it is getting much better and musical

also- if you plan to use the same webcam for professional things or expect serious answers from that video, just.... don't. Get some professional equipment and don't post on myspacetv, post on youtube. Try to get the best sound quality you can. That was scratchy and full of staticcy things.
