Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: A soliloquy is when the character speaks to his/her self. A monologue is when the character speaks alone, could be to another person; a soliloquy is a type of monologue.

A soliloguy is a speech in a play that reveals a characters innermost thought to the audience, usually the character is speaking to himself, "To be or not to be,....." A monologue is a long speech by one character usually to one or more other characters in the play, "Friends, Roman, Countrymen,...."

soliloquy: when a character talks to him/herself and reveals his/her thoughts
monologue: also a type of soliloquy but more dramatic and is usually a long speech with jokes and such.
sonnet: a poem with a 14 line verse and usually has a rhyme

there you go ;)

Are you talking Petrarchan sonnet or Shakespearean sonnet? The rhyme scheme is different in both, and they always rhyme, not just usually. It's a poem of 14 lines divided into 3 quatrains (groups of 4 lines) and a couplet (two lines) at the end. I can't remember the Petrarchan rhyme scheme, but Shakespearean is a,b,a,b; c,d,c,d; e,f,e,f; g,g. The couplet usually answers or contradicts the quatrains.
