Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Play auditions help!?

Question:This week I think I am going to be auditioning for Of Mice and Men. I've never seen the play but I know from the book the only female character is Curley's Wife. She is like sleezy, white trash. My question is that when I reads some lines from the book it comes off more redneck, but it shouldnt be because they are in california. What does white trash actually sound like? What should i make her voice be like? any links or videos would be helpful. thanks!

I've read the book, and my interpretation of her, is a very flirty woman.

She wants fame, lusts it. And due to boredom on the ranch will flirt with most of the men.

She is a mature flirt... not a silly school girl. And is sexy in doing it, but bordering on a bit over the top.

I agree that 19 is too young to play it... but if you're all 19 then it shouldn't matter...

you can't think of her as just being "sleazy white trash". you have to become her when you act. and when you act dont see her as a character, see her as a person.

No dialect, her character in in the lines. She should have kind of a sexy voice. If you are under 19, you are too young for the role.
