Does anybody else out there agree that nicole kidman sucks?

Question:i means she started off ok - bangkok hilton, dead calm. but that was it. then she SOLD OUT big time for the all-american buck. (she should have stayed with tom, (ole-tom) they were made for each other; neither interested, nor capable of making a quality movie.) every movie since has been rubbish. Australian movies (and actors) in my opinion are unique and brimming with talent....but nicole? oh dear! and that 'singing' voice? PLEASE! NO MORE SINGING ROLES!!!! thank god she and her upcoming urbane offspring are offshore....now i'll just have to pray she discontinues her 'acting' and 'singing' career for perhaps a more logical career considering her lack of talent, in the field of the custodial arts...

I never begrudge anyone their success(es) in this business, but I have to agree that Ms Kidman is an exemplary specimen of the indication school of acting, and I do tire of her endlessly breathy delivery of just about everything. She is of the 'watch me now I am going to act' school, which I find unappealing. The whole procelain effect leaves me cold. Bette Midler once said that to make it the business, you had to have something that appealed to the 'powers that be', and she obviously had something for someone. Not long term, and dubious staying power. But, again, she enjoys a level of success and good for her. It's no mean feat, together with a lot of luck. Her fame watch has run its course as far as I'm concerned, but more power to anyone who finds a place for themselves in the game. Not her biggest fan.

well, considering tom left her and filed for divorce, i don't think she had a choice.

but no, i don't think she sucks, because she's just an actress and really doesn't affect my life in any way. why so hostile towards someone you're never going to know? stop seeing her movies if you don't like her style of doing things.

I agree she's pretty lame. I remember several years ago, when she did a play in London where she had to appear nude. Seemed like that was quite a change of image. I thought when she did that it seemed like she was ramping up to go for the gold, super-stardom. It seemed to me like that really signalled her uber-ambition, and that's where actors/ actresses decide if they will assume the mantle of power earner for the filmmakers, or if they will be happy making movies that don't pay the big bucks but have great artistic merit. She went for the money. I don't know if there were cracks in the Cruise/Kidman marriage before she did that London play, or if the cracks made her decide to do it. Anyway, I figured they would split soon after, and they did.

She was brilliant in To Die For and Eyes Wide Shut. How can you call an actress who made Dogville a sell out?
