Position:Home>Theater & Acting> What is the difference between franchised agents and non franchised agents?

Question:is any better or more common than the other?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: is any better or more common than the other?

A franchised agent has to follow strict rules specified by the franchisee (e.g. the Screen Actors Guild), that generally offer greater protection to the performer and the general public.

Certain guilds prohibit their members from doing related work through an agent that is not franchised with the guild. SAG has such a rule (Rule 16) but has temporarily suspended it while it attempts to negotiate with certain Talent Agency organizations (ATA/NATR).
