Question:i dont get why people are like
oh my god her acting kinda sucks
or hes so talented at acting

i mean how can you tell to me its not really something that so easy to tell
and dont tell me oh its about how they express emotions cause some ppl do and they still say they suck

how can u tell when someones good or bad?

You are right that some people can do emotions and still suck. The important thing in acting isn't being able to cry or laugh on cue, it is being believable when you do it.

There is a concept called "suspending disbelief". According to this concept, an audience will watch something on TV or in a theatre or wherever. They know they will do something else after the show, but while they are watching they believe they are inside the action and they see and hear everything that happened to the characters. Of course, nobody really dies and the city didn't really get trampled by a large prehistoric animal, but for the time you are watching that story, you are putting away your sense of reality and allowing that story to be true while you are there. When you watch TV, you have to know Hanna Montana isn't a real person, but in her show she is and you believe the character without thinking about the actress, right? Same thing when you see a good actor play a part. It is only successful when we believe the way they act.

Good question.I don't think there's a definite way to say if someone is good or bad, but I think it depends on how the audience reacts. If someone is able to create a connection with their audience then thats all that matters.

Most people have no idea what good and bad acting are. It is very complicated to judge acting effectiveness. There are five observable qualities of acting, believability, ease, skill, communication, and charisma. Each of these qualities is complicated and must be thoroughly understood before someone can be a good judge of acting.

By if they make you shudder or squirm when they are acting.

I don't care how 'good' someone is by whatever standards there are. If i can't enjoy someone's work, I'm afraid I just don't care if they are 'talented' or not.

if they make u feel any emotion (other than anger cause they're so damn awful) then they are talented. So it's different for everyone because everyone is effected by different things.

It's easy to tell, once you're experienced.

The first thing you have to do is get out of the opportunistic mind set most people are in. Guys are shallow about picking girls and girls are shallow about picking guys.

Hollywood talent scouts will hold up a production for 3 years looking at everyone they can see before putting package together and when you see enough talent as they see 60 seconds is usually more than enough time.

As to why dull, talentless flops happen, once you put it together and you see it and know it's horrible, you are commited and hope they'll pick it up because you need the work and figure you can fix it once it's going.

It all boils down to Mel Brooks classic work THE PRODUCERS.

He picked the worlds worst play, worst director, worst actors and it became a hit.

You can pick the best script, best director, best actors and end up with a total flop.

Well, I think that its your choice. You opinion. You actually are the judge of how u think if the actor/actresses is good or bad. You are right its not easy to tell either. In some other cases, other people believe that you have to actually know how to judge, and/or be a professional. For example; In the show American Idol, the people who are judges,judge by what they think its their opinion. They score in by what they think. If they did the right key, did they sing good,was the song good enough for their voice? Well, that what i think. For me, its your opinion, your thinking,your choice.

i think that everyone is good in their own individual way! some may have weaknesses that others dont have but i think every actor/actress has their good and bad. As for people who say "oh my god her acting kinda sucks", i say you get up there and do better!!!!
