Question:I am applying for a summer program at Cal arts and there is one application requirement bothering me it's: to come up with a One page - or less - Create a monologue using the voice of the opposite gender. The monologue must be directed to a specific character. Keep in mind that effective monologues reveal a conflict, confession, or something to be gained by the speaker.

I am not sure what the monolougue should be about. Any ideas??? Thank You Any valuable help is greatly appreciated.

well, for a girl, your best bet would be to focus on the obvious traits of guys. like sports. you might watn to direct it to another sports fan who is a fan of the rival team of your created character (i.e.: a red sox fan and a yankee fan) and go over an upcoming game. maybe bring up past facts of past games. try to solve your conflict by being at the game and having it ended by your, or the opposing teams, victory. so if you don't want to do sports, do something else with that same structure. good luck! and do a subject that you remotely know about. hope i helped!

It should be about you. You are the other person (male or female) describing you. Tell a funny or sad story about yourself in the second person. "After he fell down he looked at me and said "So, what is for dinner/'
