Position:Home>Theater & Acting> How can I become a better theater actress?

Question:It's impossible to answer your question on how to get "better" when we don't know how "good" you are.

First, make sure that you really love doing it. There's a lot of competition out there and the people that love doing it will always be happier with their acting career than those who are not.

Working a lot is important, but it's also important to get regular training and regular feedback. Even well known professional stage and screen actors have coaches that regularly provide feedback on their work. As a young actor, you should be studying with a good instructor. Ask the teachers at your school about some places to start. You can post another question here asking for recommendations for instructors in a city near where you live.

involve in more musicals and plays, also always do the best you can.

hire an acting coach
take more singing lessons
more work can't hurt

I think the old joke about the casting couch has worn through.

You have to be noticed. Actors with unusual voices stand out, perhaps not as you'd want but that's one way. Being seen before the public in plays and musicals is another start that you're doing.

You might review old movies and see what actresses did in years past in great movies and try to figure out what made them. And, same thing with modern movies.

Some, wear a certain color as a trademark. I never did like that aspect. One girl I knew always wore purple, a purple scarf, hat, socks, etc. It never did hide the fact she had no talent and was a disposable tampon.

Be classy, not showy. Be neat, clean, polite, well-received.
