Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: How should I go about this?

Two steps:

1) Move to NYC
2) Take Acting for Live Theater

New York City is one of the most expensive places to live in the United States. Do you have $1000+/month for rent else are you willing to live with roommates you've just met? (The best bet is to move in with people you already know.)

There are dozens if not hundreds of training opportunities. Let us know more about your skill and experience and we'll be more able to answer your question. Are you interested in musical theater? Dance? Improv?

Keep in mind that scores of people arrive in NYC each week by bus, train and plane with the intent of "making it". There's competition like you've never experienced, and the ones that will succeed are willing and able to work at it every day, for months (if not years) before becoming successful enough at it to provide any satisfaction. Fewer still make it as their primary career. You can do it if you really love it, are willing to work at it and are willing to persist at it.

You do not have to move to New York to take acting for theatre. You can do it in the city where you live, most community colleges teach acting classes.

If there is a Community Theater in your city, call them and ask if you can become a volunteer.

By observing, you can determine if acting is what you want to do.
