tenor uptempo and ballad for audition.?

Question:I am looking for good uptempo (preferably songs which are extremely lively and energetic) and ballad songs suitable for a young male baritone/tenor.
All suggestions welcome! Please do not suggest overdone works!

Check out the music from Elegies: A Song Cycle by William Finn. It's one of his lesser known musicals and it has some truly wonderful tenor (most of the male songs are upbeat, tenor) numbers. I'm a mezzo belt and I've done songs from the same show and it almost always leaves a wonderful impression.

One of my favorite ballads, and it isn't really up tempo, but it is by no means so, is Being Alive from Company. Great song, awesome music, fantastic play. That's definitely the range you're looking for as well. One of my favorites.
