Position:Home>Theater & Acting> What's the worst advice you have ever gotten about acting?

Question:It doesn't necessarily have to be "advice" - it could be direction or the worst thing you've been asked to do on stage, in a film, or in class.

"just be yourself"
I was supposed to be a boy

pretend the audience are in their underwear. even if the audience was in their underwear, i wouldn't feel better if i had stage fright.

Look to your top right to activate your memory. There's ALWAYS a light in my eyes. Urgh, my eyesight won't be good.

I hate it when you get different teachers with conflicting ideas of what is right to do, then you are no better off than you were to start with.

For instance...
Some say shake the hands of the audition panal and some say don't.

Obviously that isn't a big thing, but I just wish there was a RIGHT thing to do!

"Never turn your back to the audience." I understand not delivering dialogue facing away from the audience, but this director wanted the actors to walk backward upstage. Completely unnatural.
