Is it better to start a career as a screen actor in Los Angeles or New York City

Question:I am wondering, since I want to specialize in screen acting, if I should get my training in Los Angeles specifically or train classically at a conservatory in New York City.

You will have more audition opportunities for film in LA.

Theatre training is stronger in NYC, but will give you a good foundation for any acting-stage or screen.

I've lived in both places- just my opinion...

Here is how it breaks down; Hollywood is the screen and commercial capitol of the univeres while N.Y. is the stage and radio capitol of the universe. There is strong competition from the "Motor City" for stage as well! In a few more years, you can expect Austin, Texas to be a power player in film and commercials.

There's way more chances to get an acting role in LA. But if you're more of a theater person, then go to NY.

los angeles, in new york city, half the time you cant even walk in an audition because you have to be part of the union, even still, in los angeles its the same problem.
