Position:Home>Theater & Acting> I want to become an actress, how do I start?

Question:Okay. So, I told my parents that I really meant it when I said that I wanted to become an actress. Suprisingly, my parents took it quite well. My dad has already signed me up for a Drama Academy in my area. It does cost a lot, though. And I've already chosen my GCSE's and I've chosen to do drama. But I just wanna know, what do I do after? Like when I start doing drama lessons and stuff. What shall I do? How do I get into auditions for films and stuff? Please help! Answers much appreciated!

After gcses you'll need a levels or an equivilent and then you need to go to an accredited drama school. I don't have any experiance or knowledge of child acting but my advice would just be to enjoy your childhood and get some ameateur experiance before training and hopefully gaining and agent through your final year showcase.

More likely than not, your prof. will help you learn how to do this stuff and where to go. but be prepared to do at least a 1 min. monologue for auditions. And as far as the lessons go, listen to you instructor and just try your best. But just a little advice, you might wanna try New York Before you go to LA... because hollywood is basically about who you know and knot what you can do (unless you get uber luky) and independent films are a GREAT avenue into the film industry. good luck hun.

Oh,, for heaven's sake, ask your Drama Academy and if they cant answer your questions, they are stealing your money. And if a drama academy is not lessons and stuff, what is? After your GCSE's plan to audition for Guildhall or another fine university theatre program.
