Is INDIO from WEST SIDE STORY a decent character to be?

Question:I was picked to be Indio for school production, West Side Story. I just want to know the truth, I don't care if it sucks I just want to know. and Is it a better part than the adults? Because I think I would be dancing and singing more than the adults...

so like maybe i was picked as indio because of my dancing and singing while adults were picked second hand?

I mean we only got to do a dance and sing for our audition so would getting Indio mean you did better than the one's who got an adult part?

I played Indio in WSS a few years ago. He is one of the Sharks. He has lines, but not as many as Bernardo or Chino. As for singing and dancing, the script doesn't call for anything more than the other Jets and Sharks have, but yes there is more than the adults do, as well as more stage time than the adult parts.

Who's Indio? I have never heard of that character and I am all over West Side Story? Is he/she a Jet or a shark?
