Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Your top 5 movies on Shakespeare plays?Question:1. Hamlet - Laurence Olivier 1948 2. Romeo & Juliet - Franco Zeffirelli dir 1968 3. Othello - Laurence Olivier 1965 4. Much Ado About Nothing - Kenneth Branaugh 1993 5. Richard III - Laurence Olivier 1955 In my opinion there is no greater Shakespearean actor of the modern times than Laurence Olivier. I am not a big fan of the "rewriting" of Shakespeares plays and putting a modern spin on it ie "Romeo and Juliet- with Leonardo Di Crapio" and "Romeo Must Die" etc. Except for, and I really loved this movie: 10 Things I Hate About You. It was loosely based on "Taming of the Shrew" The sad thing for me is, the play I thoroughly enjoyed reading, I have yet to find a real good adaptation of, maybe someone can help. The play is "Merchant of Venice" Thanks Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: 1. Hamlet - Laurence Olivier 1948 2. Romeo & Juliet - Franco Zeffirelli dir 1968 3. Othello - Laurence Olivier 1965 4.
