Question:Im auditioning for a talent school and I want a female monologue with a quirky, comical character. I have searched EVERYWHERE and nothing seems to fit my style! PLEASE help! I only have about a month to pull something together.

If you can find a copy of "Talking With..." by Jane Martin, that's an entire play filled with all female monologues. There's one about a snake handler who believes handling poisonous snakes brings one closer to God, a crippled baton twirler, and a woman who plans to audition for a play by getting naked and bashing a cat's head in with a hammer (she doesn't do either).

i love the poet carol-anne duffy she does some great work with female persona's as her focus , some of the situations are realy random but for a talent contest she would be ideal as theres lots of potential to work with...

check out the book "the world wife" , poems "havisham" "little red cap" and "salome" are great examples!

I wonder if Lisa Kudrow from "Friends" has anything funny that you'd be interested in. I think she's ha-larious! lol Or Debra Messing from "Will and Grace". I can't think of anything specific for monologues though but hopefully you get some good searches. Good luck!
