Position:Home>Theater & Acting> HELP me! I WANNA STAND OUT WITH MY PART?!?

Question:I auditioned for the High School Musical play at my middle school for Sharpay and say the slow one of "What I've Been Looking For".
On the callbacks I was number 12 out 60.
Then after the callbacks they posted the cast list... and I'm a cheerleader/party person (I dunno what the party people do, lol) the cheerleaders were posted before the chorus though.
Do the cheerleaders have a very good part? It's so unfair because almost all the people that got the lead roles have been in sing/dancing/acting classes before and I haven't.
It sucks because I no one will even notice me... What can I do to stand out?

Thanks... and does anyone has any tips for me?
Has anyone ever been in cheerleader in their HSM play b4?

PS- I'm in grade 7 and I've never sung danced or acted b4.

Cheerleader is most likely a supporting part, and trying to steal the spotlight could make the director and others watching, frown down on that. It takes a big person to be able to support and do it well.
My best advise is to come on time to every rehearsal, to learn your words/steps when you need to have them learned by, practice outside of rehearsal time, and show your commitment to theater.
If you do that, the people involved will remember your commitment and keep that in mind for the NEXT show. Most people who are at the top had to prove their way there from the bottom--so hope is not lost!
Make them notice you during rehearsals, and do your best to play your role during the performances and have a great time!
Supporting roles are sometimes the most fun! Create a GREAT character and have fun!

The only thing you can do is try your best. Keep in mind that the other people did have classes before and may be better than you. But if you focus on doing the best you can, you will be proud of yourself in the end when you prove to yourself that you can do a great job too without the lessons.
