Position:Home>Theater & Acting> How do I gain confidence on my singing ability?

Question:I will be singing jingle bells (just because it's short and sweet, and I know it well).. in this audition to be able to act. I just wanna act, but I have to sing anyway just to show them I can. Anyone who tries out, makes it. I rate myself 3 on 1-10 on how well I sing.

I am nervous. How should I approach this to go up there and kick butt?

well don't show up in some skanky outfit, that means you are trying to hard to me at least, and don't show up in some fugly thing either..wear something nice, and don't come across as shy or too confident..from my knowledge this bugs people...alot!! then try to focus on each word and beat in that song, think about something you like you smile without trying and with your eyes it really works..also try to make eye contact with the judges, teachers, directors, etc...that my friend is how i got in drama class.
~hope this helps ;D

A lot of practice somewhere else beforehand.

practice. period.

good luck

What aspect of singing are you best at? Find a song that shows it off!

Kudos for trying out! That in itself shows confidence in yourself. You might want to consider voice lessons for future events; feeling you have some voice training will help you loads. Even professional singers have coaches.

As a director, I always prefer an actor who can sing over a singer who can act. Don't sing Jingle Bells, find a song with some emotion and energy behind it. Embrace the singer within. The singer is knocking; let him/her out.
