Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: What is the opening number?

Why is Velma sent to jail?

What production number describe's Roxie's crime?

What is the setting of the movie, time and place?

1. Overture/All That Jazz (sung by Velma and company)

2. Velma is sent to jail for shooting her husband dead after she walked in on him and her sister, Veronica, having an affair. This is depicted in the musical number, Cell Block Tango.

3. Roxie's crime is depicted in a few numbers. Vocally, it is described in We Both Reached for the Gun and her monologue prior to the number Roxie. However there is a court room scene in the later part of the second act that acts out the scene she has with Fred Casely before she shoots him. According to Roxie, "she was trying to save the life of her unborn child" and "Fred was going to attack me." We learn later on that she is never really pregnant.

4. The movie and show is set in Chicago (Cook county), Illinois in the late 1920's. There are multiple settings, such as a nightclub, courtroom, bedroom, jail cell, etc.

Any other questions? I know this show like the back of my hand. And I like what the person above said, "I hope I didn't just help you on a test by giving you all the answers."
