Position:Home>Theater & Acting> What are some of your opinions of ACTING ?

Question:everyone does not act everyday, but some people pretend which is not acting. today's successful actors do not pretend nor do they 'act' as actors did 50 years ago. acting training based on Stanislavski, in spite of the fact that he was a great teacher, is no longer valid and the most famous way of training, The Method was and is a snobbish fraud based on Strasberg's misunderstanding of Stanislavski. Today's best acting teachers have written such books as No Acting, Please,, and How to Stop Acting which reflect our modern way of performing and reject the old Stanislavski based ways of training. Acting is the most difficult of professions to become successful in. Acting should always be fun. Acting is easy.

Everyone acts everyday...some better than others, some professionally, some just in their everyday lives.
"We put on a happy face" when things get us down because we don't want to spread our bad stuff all over everyone else. In turn, we get to feeling better ourselves.
People who have turned it into a career are appreciated by so many. Their talents give us a lot of entertainment.

i am an actor myself
i have been in around 20
theatre productions

I love acting, as I am an actress. Some people are better actors/actresses than others. I don't like it when people sterotye actors/actresses as rich/rude/etc. As most are just normal people.

The more truth you find, the less acting you have to do. Either on stage or in life.

acting as a job?

i love it! ( as the Chinese saying goes, if you find a career that you love, you never have to work another day again in your life) I've been acting for over 15 years and getting paid to do something i really enjoy and as far as I'm concerned i've not 'worked' for the last 15 years!
the big upside to acting for me is that you get a chance to do things that you wouldn't / couldn't 'do' in real life.. so far on various productions, i've been chased by armed police, lead a riot, gassed, blown-up, shot, hung, gutted and hacked to bits! good times!
as an actor though, the one drawback is that i do sometimes miss being an extra.. sometimes..

oh yeah, i can't stand newbie actors who haven't got an ounce of talent who say 'im gonna do this then i'm gonna do that and then i'm gonna be rich and famous within the year...' I hate them...

I'm currently a Sophomore in college working towards my Theater major so I'm no professional by any means, but this is what I have learned/know.

Everyone acts, whether its on stage or just in their normal lives. It's apart of everyone and involves real life emotions and people. Acting in your normal life is a completely different form of acting but it has the same concept. In real life a person can and will act differently around different people. For example when a person is around their family they act one way and when they are with their friends they act a different way. But now if you take this question to the stage is a different thought process. When on stage you have to act the part you are given, but you have to use your own personal experiences to help you understand the emotion behind the things that your character does and says. You have to become this other person but you will always have a bit of yourself in that character, so its pretty close to how a person can act differently around different people. In conclusion, I just see acting as a way of life and every one does it.
P.S. Sorry if this sounds like someone rambling.
