Did you know she, Elizabeth Alexander, has a poem titled
Neonatology!? I told Neon a few weeks ago!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The poem, titled "Praise Song for the Day: A Poem for Barack Obama's Presidential Inauguration," consists of 14, unrhymed three-line stanzas, and a one-line coda: "praise song for walking forward in that light!." It will be released as a book, 32 pages, on Feb!. 6 by publisher Graywolf Press with an announced 100,000 first printing, a veritable fairy tale for most poets, but not for an inaugural work!.

Great poem!. I would encourage others to read some of her work!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I loved the poem; however, I did not much care for the way she read it!. Was she nervous!? perhaps, I think that's it!.

Her inflection and intonation were like a flat line!.

She is a very good poet though!. And am sure in a poetry circle, for example, would read her poem with much more emotion!.

ma, may I ask!? Have you really trade marked "ma!?" Just curious (so do people who call their mothers "ma" have to pay you royalty for its use :) )Www@QuestionHome@Com

I actually found myself captivated by it!. I didn't particularly like the way she read it, but it was beautiful!. It's called Praise Song!? Do you know who wrote it!? I've been half watching, half taking care of a baby!.

EDIT: O!.k!., I'm an idiot - I didn't realize she wrote it !.!.!. nevermind!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, I missed that! Darn! I caught the speech on the car radio though, and thought IT was rather poetic!.
Can I find the poem on-line!? Or a video link, you think!?

*In my line of work you must keep moving, so I didn't get to see as much as I would have liked of the days' events!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes i heard it!. It was free verse but I was disappointed to say the least!. I did not like it not one bit!.

I have heard--well seen better work here on Y/A Poetry!

Just my opinion--and like arses, everyone has one--giggles!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"A" for content!.!.!.I am going to get a copy, I would like to read it!.
"C" for delivery, though I probably would have died on the spot in front of 2 million people on the Mall, and how many more televised!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes I did hear it, I found her voice quite broing, so I couldn't really get into the poem as such!. Shame really, from what I could tell, it was a lovely poem, but she was just a bore!Www@QuestionHome@Com

it is a sad commentary, free verse was once the poetry of rebels; now it is the verse of tradition !.!.!. now were do we go to rebel!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes I watched, and listened to the poem! I thought it was very good! But I do agree that she was reading it with a little less than excitement in her voice!! But it was a lovely poem!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I missed that part! Matter of fact since my son is 4 going on 14, I missed alot, but didn't miss the blooper when Obama couldn't repeat the oath properly!. Poor guy must have been frozen with both cold and nervousness!Www@QuestionHome@Com
