Question: Comments on a piece about answering late night calls!?
Startled from first minutes of sleep,
neighbor lady in her eighties
who never calls, awakened me!.
Collecting any coherent thoughts
I had at that time in that state,
I listened for nearly an hour
trying to discern what her call
of nothingness
was designed to create or resolve!.
She seemed at last to have spent
the remnant of the day's energy
and found the strength to say
goodbye!.
Puzzled, I fluffed my pillow back up
and repositioned myself for comfort,
wondering what was THAT all about!?

Closing my eyes, two decades passed,
I saw myself lonely and frightened in the night
picking up a phone, hoping to find
a voice at the other end!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't know what I've done to deserve you as a contact, especially because the title of your Q had me thinking you had received a booty call, but I am honestly grateful to have you nonetheless!.
Your poem is great!. And it makes me think of the shift in generations - like when a daughter becomes a mother, when a mother becomes a grandmother!. When you are young you view elderly people as being so foreign, and coming closer to adulthood it is a gift to somehow understand our own lifespan a bit more!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Excellent poem, excellent poem!.

Often times when we are in need of something, and we get the help we need from others, if we are selfless, it changes our thoughts on things!.

Like many people don't want to be bothered with late night calls, but how would we feel if we needed to talk late at night and no one wanted to take the time to talk!?

It goes to do unto others as we want done to us!Www@QuestionHome@Com
