Old lady awakens to preparations at hand
readies herself for Thanksgiving fare
but family is scattered across the states
today there will be nobody there

Sets mixing bowl atop kitchen counter
paring down recipe to feed only two
sadly she turns to reach for ingredients
from pantry she knows will be bare

Returns to crack egg over rim of bowl
instead to amazed delight she finds
virtual world must have invaded
filling bowl to the brim with love
