I just read the poem for the first time after seeing your question!. My first impression was that the theme of this poem had to do with the idea that without certain things in this world, other things would cease to exist!. For example, with no pain and suffering, one would never know the feelings of happiness and joy!. However, after reading the end of the poem where he throws us the twist of "november", I threw my theory out the window!. Now, although I wouldn't presume to say what was in his head when he wrote it, I'm more inclined to think it was written as simply a clever play on words, rather than to have a real deep meaning as some poems do!. However, it is my personal opinion that the artist's meaning for a piece is no where near as important as the viewer's interpretation of it!. What you see, how it makes you feel, how it relates to you!.!.!. So, now I ask you, what do You think the poem No by Thomas Hood is about!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
