Question: I need your imput on a poem!.!.!.!.!.!?
Its not a poem I wrote, but its for school!.

What type of descriptive language is being used!?

Here is the poem:
“Hope” is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all—

And Sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—
And sore must be the storm—
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm—

I’ve heard is in the chillest land—
And on the strangest Sea—
Yes, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb—of Me!.

Metaphor!.

"Hope is the thing with feathers" is a metaphor!. If it was "Hope is LIKE a thing with feathers" then it would be a simile!.

This poem is one of my favorites! The whole thing is a huge metaphor!. Hope is "the thing with feathers!.!.!. perches in the soul !.!.!. sings !.!.!. the little Bird that kept so many warm !.!.!. It asked a crumb !.!."
And yes, she is comparing hope to a bird, to put it in the simplest of words!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
