Question: This is a transaltion from Spanish!. Does this draw a clear picture!?
MANIFESTO OF THE SOLDIER WHO WENT BACK TO WAR
by Angel Miguel Queremel (translated by Donald Devenish Walsh)

Know this!.
Spent bullets die in the mouths of the forgotten dead!.
I have seen it!. I have also seen buried guns, sown by the rain,
grow and blossom in the black smoke, and larks made their
nests
between bayonet-branches!.

At first I thought transaltion was a typo!. After reading, I feel it may be quite accurate!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Spanish is a very vocalic language, unlike English!. I believe it flows better in Spanish, but this is an excellent translation!. There ain't no such thing as a translation that doesn't lose something, but this one is as good as it gets!.

Here is the original poem:

Sabedlo
Las balas perdidas mueren en la boca de los muertos
olvidados!.

Lo he visto!. Y he visto también los fusiles enterrados,
sembrados por la lluvia
crecer y florecer entre el humo *****, y anidar las
alondras
entre ramajes de bayonetas!.
--------------------------------------!.!.!.
Sabedlo
Yo sé lo que es el frío de esas manos crispadas
que buscan una lápida en la cantera de la madrugada
y una cruz en el vuelo de la golondrina sin destino!.

Manifiesto del soldado que volvió a la guerra!. Santo y se?a!.

I was searching for the original in Spanish and I'll read it!.

However, I've never enjoyed "translated" poetry!.

The passion from 'Latin' languages to English is "Lost In Translation"!. (IMHO)

I also believe that the "beauty" of the words as visuals are lost!.!.!.!.!.

y Amor!.!.!.! Surge desnuda
y baila sobre rosas una danza macabra;
mi Salomé, que sea tu boca siempre muda
y sea tu desnudez la gran palabra!

Edit: The English translation (S1) "draws a clear picture" - the original paints it!.

Edit: I see this 'site' as Miguel's!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
