When did you realise you could write poetry?

Question: When did you realise you could write poetry!?

I'm strongly of the belief that poetry cannot be taught, so when did you realise that you had a talent for it!? With me, it was when I beat 50 other people in year 6 to win the Bardic Chair, then beat 800 people to win it again in year 9!. That was good!. But also, I learnt to read when I was 3, so I suppose the way with words was always there!.

I strongly agree with you!. poetry simply cannot be taught like other things can be!.
Well, I read an email about a year ago that really touched me!. It was a guilt trip chain letter but still!. So when i hit forward, I wrote one sentence of thought, then another, then realized that the last two words rhymed!. So I just kept going until i thought i had nothing left!. i reread it and realized i had more to say and continued!. it just happens with me!. not very often anymore, actually!. i wonder why!.!.!.

but back to your other question!. when did i discover my "talent"!? My mom was recording a short video of herself for something, i hardly remember what(she's a sign language interpreter)!. My dad, the tech-savvy one of the family was away on business!. So i offered my services, what little they may be!. I grabbed the little camcorder, coordinated the background, costume, music, etc!. and gave advice on how she could perform in her video!. Eventually, I realized: "Hey, I might be good at this!." The video came out really well!. Now I'm directing a number of small things(no, nothing big like productions for even independent organizations, not yet)!. So that's how I first discovered I had a knack for film directing!. Strange, huh!? Now it's my ambition!.
I don't think you were bragging!. You are good at poetry!. You have every right to acknoledge that talent!.

I'm one of the unlucky ones who've never quite got it right!

I try, and try, and try !.!.!.!. but it always comes out sounding contrived and awkward!.

I found that I had a better skill for putting words to music, not poetry exactly, but not far from it and for me, much more enjoyable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We had our first ever poetry lesson in Primary school and mine was so good i was asked to type it up on a real computer ( something you barly got to touch at primary) and give it to the Deputy
