I like my dog Taz without the crushed ice and alcohol!. She doesn`t like the cold and she doesn`t hold her alcohol well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, certainly!. The poem refers to the drink called "Salty Dog," but does so by making the reader stop and think for a moment until she realizes it is not referring to a canine!. The poet uses a metaphor, equating 'dog' the drink, with 'grain,' the substance from which alcohol is made!.

The meter is invisible; there are no bumps along the road from beginning to end, but it is there!. This is the way meter should behave!. The final line contains assonance and alliteration!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
