Question: Can an Editor break her own rules about autobiographical poems!?
Pre-Dawn Day Two
by Elaine Polin

In the pre-dawn hours
after the longest day
and the second of the
long nights to follow
I think of you
and know
I must write
against my own
advice, for all
the world to know
that I, too, can
break the rules!.

You rebel!

Well, I love the result!. The sort of poem I like to read from you: simple and full of emotions!. It is personal, but anybody can relate!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe that life is a continuous experiment, a constant search for ways to live life better!. To make a rule is a statement that one has found the answer and need search no more!. A rule calcifies living, but the spirit within refuses to stop living, refuses to stop the search for something better!. So of course rules get broken, that's their purpose!. They provide a structure that supports us while we gain knowledge, and experience and wisdom!. And then we grow larger than the rules and must break them as a snake sheds its skin!. We do this with poetry also, ever breaking rules, ever expanding our concept of what is possible!. If we did not do this, we would never have gone beyond "Roses are red" etc!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I didn't know you'd set up rules against autobiographical poems! Since when!? In what sense!? You mean I can no longer bore everyone with tales of my youth!. Damn!.!.!.that really reins me in!.

We all love to read about what other people are doing, and thinking!.!.!.well, I do any way!.

So!.!.!.!.I'm going to ignore the ruling!.!.!.so there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Rules are made to be broken, otherwise it wouldn't be a rule, but a fact of life!. This makes me think you have broken your own rule just for me, but if I were someone else, it would read as if written for him too!. A very pleasing effect!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Rules can lure and rules can rile

Dear Ma'am,

Such a compact, high-output bit of articulated language requires more than reading skills to comprehend!. You have asked me to reach into a pocket that contains no such pencils!.

Thank you for the mortification,
IanoWww@QuestionHome@Com

To know that you have broken the rules means that you know the rules!. That is a big difference! Break them whenever you want as long as your voice still sings as this!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not a big fan of rules to begin with, I find them too stifling both in the real world and on here!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Stasis convention needs to be broken!. Editing is a Catch-22 of 'should I', and 'must I'!.

What rule is there that's never been broken!? How can you edit without having erred!? I'll break it too to two!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
