Question: Did you ever have a Smith Corona typewriter!?
Special Request by Semper Fi Reborn
Blessings to you, my friend!.

Death of the Smith Corona

Grandpa Jay was the editor
of Traverse City's Record Eagle
his column named "The Observer"
with cigar in mouth,
his mustache atop
small wire rimmed spectacles
perched on his nose
I'd watch his bald head
nearly coming to sweat
as he'd hit the keys
with vigor
the red and black ribbon
scrolling along
on his heavy
Smith Corona

Jay is now long gone
but his creation
the National Cherry Festival
continues to be held each year
a parkway, too, was named
on main street in his
honor

on computer at home
I type
but there are times
I feel Jay
pounding the keys!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Bukowski used to pound the typewriter so hard his fingers bled!.
This inspired him to write a book of poems called "Play the Piano Drunk Like a Percussion Instrument Until the Fingers Begin to Bleed a Bit"Www@QuestionHome@Com

I still have an Olympia portable (weighs about 15 pounds) typewriter - in my closet - right now!. It has fancy script keys!. When you type a letter - it looks like little handwriting!. I haven't used it in years!. The ribbon is dry!. Why I still have it - I could not say - I hang on to the strangest things!. ?Www@QuestionHome@Com
