Freshwater Pearl Bitter micro world Anna Gramma’s tells Contempt for the fish-eyed men Lacing lies Within her lullabies Freshwater Pearl Of White Wisdom prayers Of an aspirin indigestion Her own nation By creation Ignores The concept of Evolution Believes her skin A proper shade of iridescent pale Born and raised Rightfully hazed Behind barrage And barricade Runs a murky river of Hate Emulsified, she never cried (baby fed with reasons why) Salty red Blood is shed Necessary for the girl--Freshwater Pearl To contemplate to running of the grain In her off white world She dreams: Of Lilies and white garters The lifting of the veil by martyrs Ribbons of the fire Sheeted to the wind by the Lulling of the cricket song That plays In tune with the pyres greenstick doom Of long forgotten days Some believe Under her skin Is a proper shade of Hell Burns the inbred hate to fell Gay men and the darkies Anna Gramma’s pearly wisdom reeks Of white trash on Pearl’s wedding day To a Man To further propagate this land Freshwater Pearl Believes in God And slips Into her white gold band!. question: do you think this going to rub alot of people the wrong way!? It's a part of our history!.!.!.!. and this poem makes me feel so much, indeed!. Teaching WHY racism is no longer accepted!.Www@QuestionHome@Com It's a rather narrow minded view point of white America!. A tiny slice of the reality that was!. What you refer to is what was reported in the media, not what was happening in a majority of the country!. But it's these stereotypes that fuel the misguided hatred between the races!. The kind of divisive rhetoric that keeps the country from being united!. It may just be a small poem in a barely read book, but it's another nail in the coffin!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Good poetry should make the reader think!. Poetry is more than pretty description of Nature and true love!.
