Question: Can you interpret this poem!.!.!.!?
He'd given me rolling lands,
Houses of marble, and billowing farms,
Pearls, to trickle between my hands,
Smoldering rubies, to circle my arms!.

You- you'd only a lilting song!.
Only a melody, happy and high,
You were sudden and swift and strong,-
Never a thought for another had I!.

He'd have given me laces rare,
Dresses that glimmered with frosty sheen,
Shining ribbons to wrap my hair,
Horses to draw me, as fine as a queen!.
You- you'd only to whistle low,
Gaily i followed wherever you led!.
I took you,and let him go,-
Somebody ought to examine my head!
THE CHOICE by Dorothy Parker

Would you advise the speaker to make a practical choice or a romantic one!? Why!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Dorothy Parker is known for her feministic tilt and humor!. In this poem, she is choosing between two men--one rich who is offering her material comfort, and the other who only has a song to offer!.

The final line says she chose the second man, despite all the thing she could have gained from the first!. This speaker made the romantic choice, not the practical one!.

If you have to advise her, what would you choose!? Money!? Happiness!? That's something you need to decide to answer your final question!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
