Question: Do you agree!? A poem of faith!.!?
Abandon us not Oh God of Creation!.
We've lost our way, we're losing our nation!
A country whose founders placed faith in Thee,
Now stands divided, threatening liberty!

Father, take the blinders from our eyes!.
Let us see truths through agendas and lies!
Our soldiers stand brave on two battlegrounds,
Still, there are echoes of war which abounds!.

"We the People," stood united as one!.
Now we're a People coming undone!
Distrust in the system and in mankind,
Have hardened hearts and closed our minds!

Precious Father, with Thee I plea!.
Gloriously guide us, set our minds free!
Open hearts to feel again,
The joy of freedom, from within!

Oh my goodness! What a beautiful poem! There is much truth, yet sadness in the words you wrote!. But, as you stated in the last stanza, there is hope in the Lord!. So many people are just "numb" to the things that are happening around them, feeling so helpless to change anything!. If only they would realize that it is the Lord who can and will deliver us through the tribulations we are going through!. He's looking for people who have not given up, who are still trusting in Him completely to restore things to the way they were in the beginning!. He is our only hope! John 16:33 - "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace!. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD" Thank you so much Gail for sharing this beautiful poem! I love you my friend and sister in Christ!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The God that the founding fathers believed in was much different than the one modern Americans believe in!. They were deists and rationalists; fundamentalism in its current form hadn't even been invented yet, and the evangelical movement was centuries away!. They established this country not as a theocracy but as a republic!. They were men of reason much more than they were men of faith!.

That said, I agree that "distrust in the system and in mankind" are eroding America!. We've grown so cynical that few of us can imagine real change, and our distrust and apathy towards the political process is such that many of us don't even vote!. Our freedoms have been dramatically curtailed under the Bush administration, and for the most part we've just accepted it!. Where is our idealism!? Where is the sense that American freedom is worth preserving!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
