Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I would say that most modern poetry is free verse!. Revivalists of formal poetry often write in forms like the villanelle and sestina!. Cinquains, as well!. I've seen a fair number of Tanka, but not as many!. Overall, my advice would be to not worry about it too much; find a form that seems to fit your subject and go with it!. People write every kind of verse under the sun -- exactly at this moment, some poet somewhere is trying to figure out how to cram his existential crisis into anapestic tetrameter -- and in general people are less likely to judge you by what form you've chosen than by your mastery of that form!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
