It means
Because people walked on the paths and "passed" that way
The paths had been worn down to about the same level

It is saying that the paths have both been walked on the same amount, wearing them down equally!. If one of the paths had more wear, that might be a clue as to which path to pick, but they are the same!. There are no clues to be given from the wear on the paths!. Best wishes on the rest of the poem! It's a lovely one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Even though you have been down that road you really didnt notice it!.!.
You rode there time and time again!.!.!.but later on you saw that road!. Now you realize that road is the one you should of taken instead of the other one!.From the start that road didnt look appealing to you but it was after the other road you took that the first road is the one that you should of taken!.It means life takes roads but really you dont know which one to take!. But you have a chance to go back and take the road that was presented you with!. ( I love this poem and i had to resite it in high school) The road not taken !.!.and i am sure none of us took that road!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do not lament about the path you did not choose; it is where you end up that is important!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
