I'm going to have to disagree!. It is up to the reader to decide if they like it or not, but it's up to me to decide if it's good or bad!. I've written poems I hate that my instructors and classmates loved, and I've written poems that I think are the grandest thing in the literary world that a lot of people think bad!.
Being a writer that writes simply because I have the right to write gives me the right to decide if it's good or bad; I have to please myself first!. Right!? Write!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am siding with Mixtli on this one!.
I have to be 'okay' with what I wrote before it will ever see the light of day, and that goes for my prose as well as poetry!. I am more comfortable with prose, and yet there are times when it just has to a poem!. Really, either writing is for ME ultimately, having others enjoy it is just added gravy!. But if I'm not satisfied!.!.!.well, no one will know if it's good or bad anyway!.
And yes I admit!.!. the reaction of others is!.!.nerve wracking 'important!.' If I show my work, I want it to be liked!. But as others have stated 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder!.'Www@QuestionHome@Com

Poetry is subjective, as are all the arts!. It's the reader who decides!.
