Question: What is your opinion of today's Ocean poem!?

Ocean Furious
by Elaine Polin

Today my Ocean furious fumes
His anger fills my mansion’s rooms
Kind, gentle tides, so oft at play
Have turned tsunami on this day!.

With heavy heart, I feel my lack
His primal power to distract
The Master’s vengeance causes fear
I know I must not step too near!.

Sol rises not this cloud-gray morn
The gods again leave me forlorn
Against their rage I have no choice
Immortals sneer at mortal’s voice!.

No sneering allowed!. The ocean wishes to be a frog pond again, I think!.

I think L-1 is a 9'er!? "Fury"!?

"Fuer-e-us!?"

Fiuryus sounds like a Viking woman's name!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is interesting that in this wonderful poem you have portrayed the Ocean as masculine!. Even as metaphor for the primal source of emotion, I have always thought of it as womb-like and feminine!. I am of the "furious" as 3 syllables perspective, still I truly appreciate the precision and power of this poem!. Thank you!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

In my accent the 'i' is there but is kind of swallowed up, and I kept counting it as two syllables, so I reckon it is 8

Today my Ocean fulminates
His anger reaches for/to my gates

(This is not a suggestion that I am expecting you to use!.!.!.!.I'm just playing around)!.
Great rhythm and rhyme and message of man's insignificance against the powers of nature is very powerful!.

Powerful meaning here, and a great visual!
I agree with AMY G on the question of the ocean as a 'he'!.!.!.yes, it can be said like that, but the Mother ocean is a term from the most ancient of times!.
Trepidity and tenaciousness both come through in your work!. As you are both, your poem is both!.!.!.Great, I say!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Is it that we express the ocean as a "he" when it is furious and a "she" when it is soft an enveloping!? Either way you've expressed it well!. I can see the lashing waves and see the anger in the way they crash the shore!. KudosWww@QuestionHome@Com

Watch your step by that ocean, sometimes even the most calmest and docile of waves can turn violent and suck you in when you least expect it!. Those clear iridescent waves can be a blessing or a curse!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Eight to the bar is really neat,
It matches to a boogie beat,
I get the tune here in my head,
Then sing the words without much dread!.
A little song to start the day,
I like the one you wrote this way!.

You have a MANSION!?

Hmmm!. Poetry must pay more than I thought!.

I have visions of Texas' Bolivar Peninsula after Hurricane Ike!.

How nature turns a place of beauty into a wasteland!.

Nature is not to be sneered at!.

Beware the Nor'easters of Autumn!. Hunker down, tomorrow will come and when you walk on the beach then you may find treasures!. I always
search my beaches in Florida when the storms are past, it's amazing what I've found!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What's a couple of waves for old friends! lol Sounds like a day to stay inside!. Strong last line!. Your meter varied, most was 8 but then you snuck in a couple of 7's and a 9!? Didn't detract, just interesting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Impressive, and mesmerizing are the ocean's storms, and that comes true in your poem, KudosWww@QuestionHome@Com

My mom taught me to always face the Ocean so it's fury wouldn't rip me away!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Ocean can absorb a lot of anger!.

Maybe all of it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like it!. Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
