JAM SESSION Metalman’s servo electric reduction gear mechanism jammed and stripped the sprocket shaft splines!. The sudden spike in rotations tripped the breaker but not before the motor rotor seized on the stater!. Acrid smoke pierced and teared and everything halted!. Metalman’s arm, locked in the raised-fist position, will no longer strike down you to Elysium!. How odd, it’s just frozen there, all the power in the world immobilized by a five dollar part!. ***** Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: 1 correction: the motor rotor seized in the stator, locked rotor amps = approx!. 4!.5 times the full load run current, so it takes a very short time for all the smoke to leak out, and everyone knows a motor with no smoke won't run!. Of course if the overload protection circuit had been set to trip at 125% of full load, the smoke would still be in the motor, although all motion would still have ceased!. Obviously a jammed gear would cause an increase in amperage which could start overheating and thus cause the varnish on the stator's windings to smoke and burn before shorting out and tripping the breaker!.
