It is only badly-written poetry which does not communicate!.!.!.with anyone, apart from the elitist few who prefer poetry to be vague and ambiguous so that they can show off by attaching just about any meaning they wish to it!. "Look how clever I am", is what they're thinking as they offer their contrived and convoluted interpretations to all sorts of nonsense!. The writers of said nonsense, standing quietly by whilst other people attach meaning and significance to verse that has neither, smile to themselves and accept credit for other people's ingenuity and inventiveness in making silk purses out of sows' ears!.Www@QuestionHome@Com If that were true then the same could be said for pianists, painters, sculptors!. People write poetry because they are compelled to make meaning and express complex emotions and thought more precisely with carefully chosen words which honor the thought and emotion rather than diminish it as lower level communication often can!. Www@QuestionHome@Com there was a study done a few years ago and the result showed that poets don't live as long as other people - we generally have a shorter life span - what does this mean!? who knows - perhaps we are more sensitive than others and things affect us more deeply!? The reason I write poetry is to preserve a moment in time in my life - to recreate the mood, the emotion of what I am feeling at the time much like a fly caught in amber - years later someone can read the poem and perhaps feel how I felt!.!. like a little emotional time capsule!. People write poetry for any number of reasons: love of language and self-expression; love of the spirit of creativity; love of the world, which they see perhaps differently, indeed more clearly, than others!. I'm hoping I'll be able to soon!.!.it kind of feels like it's coming back!. I wrote only 2 poems after that !.!.!. one to my daughter the day I brought her home from the hospital and one about not being able to feel or write :-)Www@QuestionHome@Com Perhaps they are feeling a bit nastalgic and creative, and travel on the brink of violation in YA!.!.!.!.
