Question: Do men have to be in touch with their feminine side to be Master poets!?
Transitional
First he said:
It is the woman in us
That makes us write--
Let us acknowledge it--
Man would be silent!.
We are not men
Therefore we can speak
And be conscious
(of the two sides)
Unbent by the sensual
As befits accuracy!.
I then said:
Dare you make this
Your propaganda!?
And he answered:
Am I not I--here!?
William Carlos Williams

Interesting! I don't know if it's as much being in touch with their feminine side as it is being honest with themselves and admitting that men DO have deep emotions of the masculine nature, and DO appreciate beauty in nature and love, and SOME men are courageous enough to put their thoughts/ feelings down on paper!.
I wish to thank all of you with that courage!.
Lovely writing here, fellas!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Actually a good question!. Do we in fact have a feminine side!? I hesitate to say either way!. If we do, then does it enhance our writing!? I've never thought of it that way!. I don't think it really matters, because a lot of good poetry comes from sensitivity to the people and things around us, and I don't think the ladies have that market cornered, although there are many men who would not admit sensitivity if their life depended on it, for they think they might be less a man!. A sissy boy, if you will, to steal a term from the head martian!. Mostly that stems from an unconscious insecurity in their own sexuality!. I have been there and done that, so it is that of which I speak!. When I decided that I was secure in the knowledge that I was all male, it didn't matter how sensitive I felt any more!. Did it make me write better!? I think so, but I still think I am not so good!. Anyways, to cut to the chase if that is what you call my femine side, then pass me a pair of panties and a bra, and I'll join you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
William Carlos Williams is another poet that my teachers must have disliked!. The few I've read were posted to the web!. I have a book on hold at the library!.
As to your question, no, I don't think all artists are sissy-boys!. I think just because they walk around in funny clothes and unkempt hair does not make them effeminate!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I plainly see a query along with the additional details employed to better direct said question!. Not to mention a clear attempt to follow MLA format guidelines when borrowing someone else's work!.
To answer the question: I think it helps, as above example displays!. I myself am always touching my feminine side, and she hates it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I believe a poet who is the highest "receiver" "medium" of all of the arts, MUST definitely be in touch with his benefit side, lest he shown more of his *ss-enine HARD, oh so tough, phony "I am a man of men" crude and lacking of so much sensitivity and more tender sensibility!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
ma all poets have to be and are EMoTIONAL beings and womanish
only then can they write poetry
do u know astrology
poetry
numerology and sexology
r womanly subjects of priority
and so poets need to be demanding flattery
and have necessarily to compete with women in these fields
so they have to be womanlyWww@QuestionHome@Com
For Me,,, If I feel it,, see it,, taste it,, touch it ,,smell it, hear it, I can Become it,, and my heart is going to speak it,,,and that's what makes me who i am,, I make the choice of being free,,, and I care the way I feel ,and the way I make other people feel,,,and I don't care who or what it makes me look like ,,,Www@QuestionHome@Com
idont think that u should b feminine to b a writer!. cz sometimes what we write is not what we are!. cz a good writer is someone who can play with words although its a dark word!. you know, some of my sensei said that 'writer is a brave liar' n im agree with him cz they can play with words to create a new world called imagination which full with hopes n dream!. You HAVE asked a question and you gave the source behind the poem!.
I sure wish people would understand what they claim to have read!.
To answer your question, my initial response was to say no and provide a few examples (Bukowski, Poe and others) and then as I thought about it!.!. I am not so sure anymore!. True men are 'taught' not to display their emotions (Big boys don't cry) but perhaps their is truth in Willams' words!.
hmmm!.
