A Nation Beyond Redemption
O the miseries of a war torn nation
O the foul stench of death in the air,
Will we then the children of the cursed
Ever escape the claws of the Flanders fields!?
Hear ye hear ye the torment of an anguished nation
The cries of lament as civil strife rages on
Why are we held destitute for sins not committed!?
Why are we given the death sentence if it’s not deserved!?
Have we so soon forgotten the follies of our fathers!?
The follies that so much have destroyed us!?
We have lived in the past, and have not learned from it
War has posed to be our teacher,
But yet as some twisted fate, we seem to be confined to oblivion,
By the ignorance that has eaten us alive!
What then shall we do two decades from now!?
When death’s icy claws has frozen over the nation
And ignorance has the country lying helpless in mortal ruins!?
Our ignorance has destroyed a Child of Africa
We have pierced our country even when she pleaded with us
We have reduced her to rags and tattered clothes,
But even now in her disgrace and stupor,
From the Mountains of Sinoe to the lush green forests of Grand Gedeh,
She stands to exude majesty and splendor;
Yet still in that beauty that seems to be less than an elation,
We have reduced her to a weeping mother,
And almost a nation beyond redemption!
