Blues, Monday, Dream

Sunday, standing, on a roof
wiring a sign to light the night
just another beacon begging,
modern day fishing…
but where’s the prey!?
Another weekend worked,
Monday of course knocking
Crap, Crap and Crap again!
I’m not feeling blue, way past that
I’m just chasing the ‘Dream!.’
Need a primer though,
just what is this American thing
called the American Dream!?
Maybe Wall Street knows!?

Just another day, monday tuesday blah blah blah !.!.!.

‘’Wandering lonely as a cloud,
In this maddening crowd
Another day, another dollar,’’
I deal in pounds, sterling providence
It wanes and withers to bloom again
Another day and other tear, another broken
Piece of this heart!.

It brings a tear, and chases away
A melancholy clinging, quietly bringing
A solace and a fear, held dear
As comforted spirits fearful
Of another day passing, another year!.

Ebbs and flows this tiresome drone
Wears away at heart and soul
Until little but loathing remains
From life refrains with abject disdain
Made simple remains unclear!.

Muddy waters and clear blue skies belie
A rainbow drowned in an abyss, with a kiss
Betrayed and delayed in an affray
Of another creation, elation, good news
Enthuse and wonder what lies yonder
Behind the lowered veil of eternities bloom!.
It is not tomorrow and yesterday gone
It promises, of promises made avowed
Bestowed upon others deemed worthier perhaps
A vacuum, a void, bereft and devoid of a peace
Of your time in moments sober and presence of mind
Listen awhile, stay, much to say and words remaining !.!.!.

Your poem left me feeling sad!.!.!.and a little worried!. My husband handles all that stuff and he's not talking!.
However, for me the American dream is pretty basic: A decent job, food in the pantry, a (dry) roof over our heads and the love of family and friends, all of which I am thankful to have!.

I'm 76 and I have never heard so much "American" dream fluff spoken,
as in this past year! As a youth, young adult, I had dreams, so to
speak, Never referred to as American, they were me, me,me, dreams!.
Yet knew what ever the dream, I had to work and save to get there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are places I"ll remember all My life,though some have changed!. Some forever not for better,some have gone and remain!. All these places had their moments with lovers and friends,I still recall!. Some are dead and some are living,in My life I"ve loved them all!Www@QuestionHome@Com

My in-laws came to Canada, they heard the streets were paved with gold!.Got here and realized that they were paved with asphalt and they were the ones who were going to have to pave them!.But it was better than what they had come from!.That is the dream!.It could be worse!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
