Question: Have you memorialised your first love!? Submissions welcome :)!?
Love at Eight!.

I fell in love with a girl once,
So I hung by my knees from a tree,
And told her incredible stories,
All terrible lies about me!.

I said I could run like a leopard,
I told her I'd once seen a shark;
I said I could throw a stone miles,
And was never afraid of the dark!.

I boasted my Dad was a pirate,
I whispered that I was a spy;
I said that I'd been on the telly,
And could name every star in the sky!.

I claimed I played football for England,
I said that the scabs on my knee
had been won in a fight with Butch Mason -
A boy three times bigger than me!.

I recited a poem I'd 'borrowed',
I said I could stand on my head;
I told her I'd been in a rocket,
And I owned a gorilla called Fred!.

I walked on the sky in my sandals,
My face framed in blue filled her eyes,
As she gazed up at me from the tree-roots,
Awash in the warmth of my lies!.

It was such a wonderful evening,
My stories her silence, the tree -
But I knew that I'd lost her forever,
When her mum drove her home for her tea!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Anniversary
by Elaine Polin

In my dream
I see your face
hear your laughter soar
touch you on this Day of Days
as I did before…

I awake
to darkened room
on this Night of Nights
blindly, I reach out for you
then switch on the lights…

Which is dream
and which is real
why are you not here
once again I close my eyes
and dream you laughing there!.

EDIT: Yes, my first love!. Strange, isn't it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

An excellent read!. Well done!. Some inconsistent meter in places, but doesn't seem to detract too much from it in the main!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A Total joy to read!. Funny as well!.
Thank you for sharing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A delightful read, but I went to no such lengths as you my friend!. I was a boy of few words, both literally and figuratively (I was six years old), so I pulled her into a closet at school and stole a kiss!. She didn't seem to mind a bit!. Now, 47 years hence, I am not nearly so bold as that, but I have charms now I didn't then, larger and fuller!.!.!. my vocabulary, I'm talking about my vocabulary! The things we do for love; what a strange old world!. I would be most appreciative if you would comment on my open poem!. If you click my avatar, you can access it through my questions!. I hope you like it, and look forward to your response!. And now, I'm off to find a willing and myopic lass and a larger closet to "memorialise" my love!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
