Question: Need Help Finding a Poem!?
Does anyone know of a poem that is not directly about truth or lack of truth, but involves a misrepresentation of truth!?

For example, in the song "I Was Only 19" a story of soldiers going to war, the soldiers are dying and being wounded, yet the government portrays a happy and enjoyable trip for the soldiers!. Thus, misrepresenting truth!.

Does anyone have any other poems like this!? Can be by any writer and any length as long as it's not too short!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wilfred Owen is a famous WWI poet!. He wrote "Dulce et Decorum Est," which discusses the contrast between the horrors of trench warfare, and "that old lie/dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" (it is sweet and beautiful to die for one's country!."

E!. E!. Cummings's poem "The Cambridge Ladies That Live In Furnished Souls" talks about the shallow ignorance of upper-middle class women, blinding themselves to the truth of the world!.

Kit Marlowe's "Passionate Shepherd to His Love" does not qualify in and of itself, but in conjuction with Walter Raleigh's "A Nymphs Reply to the Shepherd," written in response, and with a cynical dismissal of all the romantic promises of love in the first poem!.

And then there's A!. E!. Housman's "Infant Innocence," which can best be summed just by reading its four lines!. Here is the complete poem:

The Grizzly Bear is fierce and wild
He has devoured the infant child
The infant child is unaware
It has been eaten by the bear!.

Finally, there's "A Victorian Hangman Tells of His Love," by Bruce Dawes, which deals with the topic of execution (through hanging) as a sort of gruesome love poem!.
