Day Off

I did look forward to sleeping in!.
A day of glorious rest!
Putter about, maybe pull weeds
read poetry from the best!.
Sometime this morning, round about four
I felt my blankets all tugged
with head all groggy, over I rolled
dreaming that I had been mugged!.
Rolled into the arms of Morpheus
hoped to stay there till eight,
the creepy feeling of staring eyes
pulled me out, now wide awake!.
There was a cat, two inches away
requesting my attention
with patting paws caressing my nose!.
Did I forget to mention
Feline demands I tried to ignore,
and go right back to my dream!?
My hopes are dashed as Grace sinks her teeth
into my toes as I scream
What did I do to deserve all this!?
My judgment now shall I mock!?
How did I manage to pick this cat,
toe biting, striped alarm clock!!?
So I get up and I brew my pot!.
My cup of wakefulness pour,
I turn away, her cat food to get,
my coffee, pushed to the floor!.
She sits and smiles, she laps and slurps
caffeine which she does not need!.
banished again with a broom’s great swat!.
And I, insanity plead!

What a talent you have for this kind of poetry!. This one was most enjoyable and I think that everyone who has ever owned a cat has probably gone through this experience with Tiddles !. Me, I just forget to wind the moggy up!.

I love cats!. I had two for 15 yrs!. They both recently passed!. I can`t bring myself to get another one!. Too hard when you lose them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
My sympathies, but I must remind you that we do not own our cats!. They own us, and Grace sounds like she must be very jealous of your fellow poets!. Maybe if she started writing her own poetry, she'd be nicer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My alarm clock is a gray and white shi tzu, that goes off at 4:30 a!.m!. when I need to get up at 5:30 a!.m!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
