Question: Can a poem serve as a parable!?
Inspired by Neonman's poem, I have decided to repost my parable/poem, originally (and still) dedicated to S!.F!. Reborn!.

For Semper Fi

In the Oasis
by Elaine Poln

He stood upon the Edge,
gathered crowds around Him
pointed to the fig tree,
gazed upon the mass!.

Hear My words and hearken,
the fruit is ripe for picking,
is this crop your last one!?
how long can Earth bear pain!?

Cease your toxic ways,
learn to love your neighbor,
stretch to see beyond you
lest the darkness fall!.

The people listened closely,
but did not heed His sermon,
as Midnight comes to meet us,
Earth sings a final dirge!.

First time reading this marvel piece!.this poem conveys a message, closely related to our own life, our own existence: appreciation of mother earth!. Pollution is one sword created by man to fight nature, man might as well die by the same sword!.
Nice read!

As always Elaine a great read and for-warning message!.Shall we ever learn!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It reminds me a bit of the Edwin Arlington Robinson poem "Richard Corey!." except that you are talking about tragedy on a macro level, while Robinson dealt wigth tragedy on a micro level:

Richard Corey

WHENEVER Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim!.

And he was always quietly arrayed, 5
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked!.

And he was rich—yes, richer than a king,
And admirably schooled in every grace: 10
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place!.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night, 15
Went home and put a bullet through his head!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Thank you for the poem!.

I am always learning when I read and the meaning, the moral or the parable always seems to find its way to me!. I thought about a religous setting when I read this poem!. Jesus in synag!. talking to some fellow Naza!. , they listened they learned till they heard something that upset them they forced him out to the edge of a cliff where he finally at the last moment admonished them and walk through the throng of Nazareans!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
