Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Which Browning are you referring to, Robert Browning or Elizabeth Barrett Browning!?

One of my favorite epic poems is "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came" by Robert Browning; however, as far as discourses on the true nature of love goes, I adore Elizabeth's Sonnets from the Portuguese!.

If it's Robert you mean, I prefer him to Tennyson in all respects!. He wastes no time in feeling sorry for his characters or even in describing their glory before their untimely falls!. Check out "My Last Duchess" - a wholly disturbing poem about a man who murders his wife and discusses it all cavalierly with a guest while standing beneath her portrait!. He's dark, but he's clever with his darkness!. Much less obvious than Tennyson, and I love subtlety!.

On the whole, if you want to do an in-depth analysis of a difficult piece, choose Robert Browning!. If you prefer something easier to take apart, choose Tennyson!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is Tennyson for me!.

I love "The Lady of Shalott" and the idea of art for art's sake!. I even have a print of her in my dining room

Like "Locksley Hall" as well!. A dramatic monologue about the ways of the world to a young person!.

Browning and !.!.!."Dutchess" and the notion of "the good minute!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

I prefer Tennyson because "The Lotos Eaters" is one of my favorite poems plus crit study of it should be easy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
