It depends on what kind of poem you are writing!. A rhyming verse like a limerick, or something that does not require rhyming!?

If it has to rhyme, maybe use a rhyming dictionary like this one ( http://www!.rhymezone!.com/ ) and pick a word that has plenty of rhyming words!.

If it's got to be a non-rhyming verse, don't feel daunted!. Use alliteration (words starting with the same letter consecutively chained together) and onomatopoeia (words that sound like the action they are expressing "the buzzing bee") to build your poem!. If anything, non-rhyming is probably better because you won't get distracted!.

Overall, think of something simple to write about!. For example: a crunchy Autumn leaf (and its journey from twig/branch to the ground through the seasons) or a discarded lemonade can on a football field (the life of litter/when an object of value becomes unwanted)!.

Just a prediction: everyone in your class (assuming this is for academic purposes) will probably try and write a poem about a "majestic swan" or a "murky castle on a dark and stormy night" and will bore the teacher to tears :D

If you pick something really simple and make it interesting, *that's* where you'll score marks!. Intrigue the reader with an object or action they ignore and normally take for granted!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

well it's probably because it is one in the morning that your out of ideas!. Luckily i'm doing homework right now and I'm in the zone so here are some ideas:

any hobbies!? sports, dancing, collecting things!?
for example hockey goaly - explain how he feels during the game

-family
-music
-how you feel right now - blank, how your lost of ideas
- getting lost
-finding things
-nature
-evironment problems
-can't sleep

so yea just throwing ideas here you should come up with more on your own if you want to expand you variety of thinking

what's going on in your life right now!? Is there some situation that is making you happy or sad!? What do you feel strongly about!? How about a poem about having to write this poem - how do you feel about having to do it!? everyone has a story within!.!.!. Perhaps you feel uncomfortable writing about relationships - if so try something funny - when I wanted to write but felt that sharing information about my feelings and emotions was too risky I aimed for humor by writing cat love songs

maybe you could pretend you were someone else for a moment (jim morrison or edgar allan poe - some writer you enjoy) and write the poem they might write!.

I am currently doing a series of short poems about going fishing with my boyfriend
