Question: When did you realize you needed others and couldn't do it on your own!?
I’ve been waiting
a while now
to say thanks,
thanks a lot
I’ve done okay and today
I thought I’d say so, but
there’s still this fire
that smolders where
the dogs of depression
lick
their filthy jowls
and wait, but
thanks anyway!.
Mostly, I’m happy when
I pause on a thought and
get a chance to see it
before I
kill it
but I still smell
the fires, they
have this way of burning out
the senses and
when you can’t see
hear smell feel
a thank you is
a far gone
thing!.

After 23 years of life in "and now for something completely"!.!.crazies,I crawled in the doors and found life has meaning and the promises do come true!. I am truly thankful to all who have helped me along the way,and have said so many times!. The dogs of depression have currently stolen my slippers, but this too shall pass!.Thank you for the gratitude reminder!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It takes such strength and courage to get past those "dogs of depression"!. Seeing past the fire to the others that you need, and transcending it are two different things!. You cannot accomplish either if you doubt yourself!. This poem has such truth and power!. It has inspired me to think past my own self doubt!. Thank you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As a young man, I doubted the need for the others!. When I started reading books, doubts began to vaporize one after the other!. The last doubt demolished after (between the lines) reading of "The Prince", just to
realized that :
"We need each other
now
more than we want
to admit!."*

Your poem expresses a universal truth!. It contains much poetic expression!. Your concluding message is also true--in the end, part of us remains alone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

None of us can walk through this life completely alone!. We all need friends around us to talk with when the "fire that smolders where the dogs of depression lick their filthy jowls" Very powerful piece!. Thank youWww@QuestionHome@Com

Seems like we've both been haunted by unwanted (!?) dogs and vultures!. May I say thank you for sharing this imagery that I have been seeing a lot, and using words so right!.
